What exactly is Blackbird?
Blackbird is a GPS-based dashboard device. It knows the location of mapped surveillance and enforcement cameras and alerts you as you approach them. It contains no radar or laser detection — it's an informational tool that compares your position against a database of known camera locations.
Does Blackbird detect Flock cameras?
Yes. Flock Safety's plate readers are exactly what Blackbird was built to map. As you approach a known Flock camera, Blackbird alerts you in advance.
What does it alert me to?
Flock Safety cameras and other automated license plate readers (ALPRs), plus red-light cameras, speed cameras, and school-zone enforcement. Flock's network alone spans thousands of towns — logging plates and building movement profiles on drivers who've done nothing wrong. Blackbird tells you where they are.
How does the camera data stay current?
Your device pulls fresh camera locations continuously, so the map never goes stale. New cameras are added as they're mapped.
